The ballasting phase is not always as simple as people would have us believe. So you might as well equip yourself well, with good products such as Decapod ballasts for example, but also with good tools, such as these templates.
Cutting them out will enable you to even out the ballast installation to give it the right size and slope, with regard to the SNCF's installation recommendations in any case.
You have gauges for single track and double track, suitable for both code 75 and code 100 rails.
Note that the double gauge will also help you to position the right gauge between the 2 tracks.
Finally, Decapod has versions for curves, with a cut-out that allows you to follow the recommended 1 mm slope to perfect the laying of your track in curves.
