These unified battery boxes appeared all over France as soon as electricity was used to manage signalling or other control organs (motors, points, level crossings... ). They are often found in addition to an electrical cabinet along the tracks.

They contain accumulators (batteries) to ensure electrical continuity during a power failure or power cut on the network, they are generally designed in galvanised steel.
