Also known by their running number X3800 or their nickname "Picasso", these railcars were built in 251 units and operated from 1950 to 1988. Used in all regions of the SNCF and still in childhood memories of many of us, they are a logical bridge between the steam and the TGV eras. To the delight of enthusiasts, their simple design and reliability have enabled some twenty samples to be preserved by various fans associations which still operate them today.

- Screw couplings and sprung buffers.
The prototype chosen belongs to the series manufactured by Renault at Choisy-le-Roi and fitted with the 517G engine.
