This type of walkway is actually used to inspect the roof of electric locomotives when returning to the depot. It is an indispensable installation from the storage grill for a few locomotives to a real depot with a large fleet.
This model reproduces the footbridge at La Villette, a Parisian depot adjacent to Gare de l'Est station, but will also be suitable for any other region, including those with 1500 V electrification. To save space, it is possible to climb only one of the two staircases.
The footbridge is made entirely of photo-engraved 0.2 mm metal. The number of components is reasonable and the 3D design of the kit avoids any doubtful fit of the parts to each other. The assembly does not therefore involve any particular difficulty other than mastering tin soldering. Nevertheless, as with any kit of this nature, meticulousness will be required.
The decalcomania board allowing the reproduction of the "Danger of Death" plates is supplied in the kit.
And the paint? The references DP8216 (light rustproof grey) and DP8217 (dark rustproof grey) are perfect, but La Villette's is ... yellow !
Our advice: think about the DP3670 reference, catenary adjustment template, which will in fact allow you to position your catwalk precisely without engaging the track gauge.
