Within the large family of railway ancillary buildings, all those housing rolling stock are generally preferred by amateurs. Unfortunately, they are often very imposing and therefore difficult to fit into a network. With a shed with a track drive, on the other hand, the problem of space does not arise!
The real shed which served as a model is located in Evreux, on the line going from Paris to Cherbourg, but it has no marked regional character and could be found identically throughout France.
It has moreover been modified by substituting the roof made of fibro-cement sheets for another roof made of mechanical tiles with a steeper slope. This makes it more attractive and even more versatile.
Generally speaking, these sheds were built after 1945 and are only designed to accommodate small drains, which is in keeping with the equipment of the time (up to DU65). However, a German-made Köf 2 locotractor can be fitted into the shed, which will allow it to be installed on an EP equipped with such a machine. On the other hand, the small SNCF locotractors of type Y2400 and similar are too high.
This model is as detailed as was desirable, with an evocation of the frame, the possibility of installing the roller shutters in the open or closed position and a very simple integration of the track. The construction uses high quality materials and has been designed to make it as easy as possible to decorate the individual elements separately.
All you will need is a cutter, fine sandpaper, wood glue and the usual small decoration material. Of course, you will need to take care of it, but in absolute terms everything is accessible to beginners!
