You appreciate the ease of use of water-based acrylics, which can be easily applied with a brush!

Decapod offers you a range of patinas on this base; a mixture of paint, thinner and specific varnishes, these washes come in the form of an extremely liquid paint that slips into the slightest hollow, the slightest gap, catches the slightest bump...

-The rust veil effect will allow you to realistically depict rust marks on brake shoes for example.

-The mud wash will allow you to realistically represent the brown layer that covers the chassis, the bodies of the rolling stock, etc... Of course, you will use this colour for any use that you think is relevant to dirtying other parts of the rolling stock, buildings, etc...

-The dirty black wash will allow you to realistically depict the black layer that covers the roofs of the rolling stock, to highlight the relief of the body, etc... Of course, you can use this colour for any purpose that you think is relevant to dirtying other parts of the rolling stock, buildings, etc...

The dirty wash will allow you to realistically depict that greyish-brown layer that covers the chassis, the bodies of the rolling stock, etc... Of course, you can use this colour for any purpose that you think is relevant for soiling other parts of the rolling stock, buildings, etc...

The dust wash will allow you to realistically depict this light grey-brown layer that covers the chassis, the bodies of the rolling stock, etc... Of course, you can use this colour for any purpose that you think is relevant for soiling other parts of the rolling stock, buildings, etc...

-DP8600 thinner is at your disposal if you wish to dilute these patinas even more.>

With a very strong dilution, these paints can also be applied with an airbrush.

Thinning and cleaning with water (tap water, mineral or distilled water, as you wish) but specific thinners containing alcohol like Tamiya are perfectly compatible and a fortiori our 8600 thinner.

Many of you have been in favour of our range of solvent acrylic patinas: you will love these paints that you will not be able to do without for all your model making work, especially since they are particularly complementary. You will obtain examples of very realistic and fine patinas by starting by applying veils of solvent acrylic patinas with an airbrush and then finishing with these water-based acrylics with a brush.

Decapod "water based acrylic" patinas are a mixture of paint, thinner and specific varnishes. These effects and washes have the necessary properties to slip into the slightest hollow, the slightest gap and to catch the slightest bump...

Depending on the reference, the base comes in a more or less liquid and fluid form.

You can use it as it comes out of the jar for a charged effect. Based on experience, we advise you to apply these patinas with a thinner within reach of the brush, composed of our specific thinner reference 8600 and distilled or demineralised water (50/50 in proportion is a good base) or a mixture of isopropyl alcohol and distilled or demineralised water (in a proportion of 10 to 50% alcohol).

Mix in a cup a variable proportion of patina as it comes out of the jar with the diluent composed as described above. The more you use the patina when you take it out of the pot without cutting it, the more charged the effect will be... This is the preferred method for the micro patina of pads, brake shoes, cabot, architectural details, etc... The more you add thinner, the more you will obtain a consistency close to "dirty water" which will allow you to achieve very light and light patinas that will run and drip very easily along the models... This is the method to be used for dripping on wagons, dripping on roofs and walls, etc? All variations are imaginable, possible and recommended to obtain a realistic patina.

These paints can also be airbrushed by diluting them very strongly with our thinner reference 8600.

For cleaning, you can use water, with the addition of alcohol if necessary, but only thinner 8600 guarantees a deep cleaning. In any case, take care not to let the paint dry, always clean immediately after use, especially your airbrushes, and finish cleaning your brushes with warm water and a little soap.
